ROLE

Creative Lead

PROJECT OVERVIEW

The client was transitioning the organization to Workday and needed to update their enterprise intranet portal to align with the new technology.  It was determined the portal would be the employee gateway to HR tools, resources, and ESS while integrating useful data from Workday directly – all while maintaining a content personalization model based on role. With this new update to the Workday technology, they also wanted to rebrand the solution to present a new, unified face to the organization – a branded experience that aligns to the organization’s EVP, brand and culture.

CHALLENGES

The client provided very strict design standards and did not allow for significant deviation from the existing standards without significant reasoning and POC examples for consideration.  They also had a restrictive IT platform with pre-defined functional components and posed a strict limit on introducing new components to the system.  This engagement was considered a “speed-to-market” solution to align with the Workday launch and provided limitations that were consistent with a quick turn-around.

DESIGN SERVICES/PROJECT ATTRIBUTES

UX design strategy, UI design, 3rd party data integration, user personalization, HR communications, HR benefits, ESS, manager’s experience

SOLUTION

This solution was more heavily staged as a UX effort, but the solution did require extensive UI design to prove alignment with the strict platform and design standards.  The entire effort resulted in extensive UX wireframing, high-fidelity, functioning design prototypes, and detailed content strategy showing the integration and cross-referencing of Workday content.

The design provided business context and guidance for new Workday transactions, helped encourage and enable users to adopt self-service behaviors and resources, and offered personalized experiences for users based on role (i.e, onboarding help and assimilation support for new hires).

SCOPE DELIVERABLES

Upon completion of the project, the client was provided UX strategy documents, high-fidelity designs, functional prototypes and content strategy documentation.  Since the client was building the final solution in-house, they were also provided detailed design specs, solution red-lines and a final design standards document.
